FYE Success Series speaker will share tips for getting out of debt
The First Year Experience Success Series is sponsoring a return visit from Peter Bielagus, author of “Getting Loaded: A Complete Personal Finance Guide For Students and Young Professionals.”
On Tuesday, Sept. 19, at 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Bielagus will present ‘Jump Start Your Personal Finances” in the Nessmith-Lane Building Assembly Hall. He will repeat the presentation on Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Russell Union Ballroom.
Bielagus will explain how to fix credit report errors, discuss credit cards and their use, how to invest and more. Additionally, Bielagus will be available in the Russell Union Commons to chat one-on-one Wednesday, Sept. 20, at a time to be determined. For more information on the speaker, visit his Web site at http://www.peterbspeaks.com/.
When Bielagus was a college student he accrued $5,000 in credit card debt during his freshman year. Resolving to get out of debt he began learning about personal finance, read more than 300 books on the topic, interviewed experts and attended seminars. When he graduated, he was debt-free.
Bielagus is a licensed financial advisor who is a regular contributor to the nationally syndicated ‘Hints From Heloise” radio show. He also writes a personal finance column for boston.com, the Web site of the Boston Globe.
His interactive presentation will mix humor and emotion with real-life examples.
All presentations are free and orientation classes are strongly encouraged to attend.
