Georgia Southern University offers out-of-state fee waiver
Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Ga., invites eligible first-time freshman students living outside the state of Georgia to consider pursuing a degree there, and it backs that invitation with an out-of-state fee waiver that makes the cost the same as in-state tuition. The deadline to apply for the out-of-state fee waiver is Feb. 1.
‘The out-of-state fee waiver actually operates more like a scholarship,” says Susan Davies, director of Admissions. ‘Over a four-year period, the out-of-state fee waiver is actually valued at more than $27,000.”
To be eligible for an out-of-state fee waiver, applicants must meet selective eligibility requirements. In addition to being first-time freshmen, they must have a high school GPA of 3.2 or greater and a minimum of 1100 on their SAT or 24 on the ACT. The SAT total is for the critical reading and math sections only.
‘We recognize the value of inviting good students to study and earn degrees Georgia Southern,” says Davies. ‘If they maintain a 3.0 GPA during their college years, the out-of-state fee waiver is renewable for eight semesters.”
