Annual watermelon cutting set for July 10
Georgia Southern President and Mrs. Bruce Grube will kick off the summer season with the University’s ceremonial watermelon cutting on Tuesday, July 10.
The 59th annual event for faculty, staff and students will be held at 10 a.m. on the Pedestrium near the Carruth Building.
The watermelon cutting tradition began in 1948 with the late Zach Henderson and has been continued by each of his successors as president of the University. This will be President Grube’s ninth watermelon cutting.
The watermelon cuttings will continue every Tuesday and Thursday at 10 a.m. throughout the rest of July.
