“Julius Caesar” will be presented at Performing Arts Center on Jan. 19

A legendary Shakespearean play that chronicles the rise and fall of one of the world’s most notorious leaders is coming to the Performing Arts Center (PAC) at Georgia Southern University.

The nationally renowned Aquila Theater Company will present ‘Julius Caesar” at the PAC on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 7:30 p.m.

Set in a world of political intrigue and strained domestic relationships, ‘Julius Caesar” explores the moral and political dilemma of Marcus Brutus. Should he join the conspiracy to assassinate Caesar, conquering hero and his trusted friend? Or should Brutus allow one man’s tyrannical ambition to overcome the very ideals upon which Rome was founded?

The choice that Brutus makes has the power to destroy the old world order and ignite a fierce civil war.

Tickets for ‘Julius Caesar” are $30 per person for the general public. Georgia Southern faculty, staff and students will receive a $5 discount for each ticket.

In addition, if any tickets are available 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start of the performance, any Georgia Southern student with a valid University I.D. can purchase one ticket for $10.

‘Julius Caesar” will be staged using Aquila’s company aesthetic, which includes excellent acting, crystalline verse-speaking, original music, and innovative conceptualization and design.

With this performance, Aquila will bring one of William Shakespeare’s most relevant and timely works to vibrant life in a production that is visceral, challenging and, above all, entertaining.

In the process, Aquila will ask the audience to consider the price of democracy and freedom and the consequence that can befall a society when it is asked to defend its core beliefs.

The PAC is located on the Georgia Southern campus at the corner of Chandler Road and Plant Drive. The box office is open every Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. The box office is also open one hour prior to the start of each performance.
