Georgia Southern University to Host Economics Honor Society & Economics Club Brunch and Lecture

eagleheadGeorgia Southern University will host accomplished author and economist Michael Parkin during it Economics Honor Society & Economics Club Brunch on Friday, Oct. 19, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. at the College of Business Administration, Room # 3313.  Parkin will deliver a lecture as part of the University’s ECON 2105 (Economics in a Global Society) late that morning from 11:15 a.m. -12:05p.m. in Room 1004 of the Allen E. Paulson College of Engineering and Information Technology Building.

The Economics event is hosted by Pearson Publishing (www.pearsonhighered.com), the University’s College of Business Administration’s Finance and Economics Department. The brunch and lecture is designed to provide the University and community with the opportunity to hear Parkin speak and learn more about his research on macroeconomics, monetary and international economics. The lecture is free of charge and open to the public.

Parkin is a Professor Emeritus of Economics at Western University, Ontario, Canada and is well known for his textbooks on the foundations on economics, which are used by college teachers around the world. His research on macroeconomics, monetary economics, & international economics has resulted in more than 160 journals and edited volumes, including the American Economic Review, the Journal of Political Economy, the Review of Economic Studies, the Journal of Monetary Economics, & the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking.
