Improve English communication skills in just six weeks with Georgia Southern University

The Division of Continuing Education at Georgia Southern University invites native and non-native English speakers to improve their English communication skills in just six weeks through the English Communication Skills course.

The class is scheduled for 10-11:30 a.m. on Fridays from Oct. 27 to Dec. 8. The class, offered in partnership with the English Language Program, will offer students the opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences with people of other cultures, provide a relaxed, non-judgemental setting for native and non-native English speakers, and focus on listening and speaking skills.

The course is designed for those who do not wish to enroll in a full course of study. Classes are small, with an average of 10 students per class, so students are able to receive personalized attention.

Amy Perry, an educational program specialist at Georgia Southern, is the instructor for the class. Perry holds a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and French from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and a Master of Arts in international relations from the International University of Japan.

Perry has taught English as a Second Language (ESL) abroad and domestically for more than 15 years. Prior to joining Georgia Southern, she established a local ESL program for new immigrants living in the Statesboro area. She is currently furthering her studies with Georgia Southern’s graduate Applied Linguistics/Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages  certificate.

The cost of the course is $75 and includes all required resources. To register, visit http://academics.georgiasouthern.edu/ce/programs/ecs/.
