Treasure Savannah day of service to take place in Savannah, Hinesville

On March 3 Georgia Southern University students, faculty and staff will come together to volunteer for Treasure Savannah, the biannual day of service on the Armstrong Campus in Savannah and Liberty Campus in Hinesville.

Treasure Savannah started in 2010 on the Armstrong Campus to celebrate the campus’s long and rich history in Savannah. The spirited volunteer event is an opportunity for the campus community to connect with the greater Savannah area, to make connections with local nonprofit organizations and to serve the communities in which the University members live, work and study.

“Treasure Savannah is a proud tradition of the Armstrong Campus,” said Georgia Southern Vice President for Armstrong and Liberty Campus Operations Christopher Curtis, Ph.D. “It is a wonderful opportunity for our students to both serve the community and to learn firsthand from its people. Georgia Southern is excited to continue this tradition and looks forward to building new relationships and engaging in new service learning opportunities.”

The day will begin with volunteers dispersing to 13 service sites, including Skidaway Island State Park, Keep Savannah Beautiful, Hoofs 4 Healing, Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Georgia Regional Hospital and Second Harvest in Savannah. Liberty Campus service sites include the Liberty Humane Shelter, Keeping Liberty Beautiful, Hinesville Downtown Development Authority and Liberty County Manna House.
