Welcome to Hollywood; University Ready for Homecoming Oct. 4-11

Georgia Southern University will celebrate homecoming the week of Oct. 4-11 and this year’s theme, Welcome to Hollywood: Southern Walk of Fame, promises a spirit-filled week of red carpet fun. Festivities will kick-off at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 4 at the Russell Union Rotunda with food, fun and a sneak peak of upcoming homecoming activities.

University to Recognize Disability Awareness Month

“Observing October as Disability Awareness Month allows Georgia Southern to recognize and celebrate the vast contributions made every day by our students with disabilities,” said Mike Chamber, director of the Student Disability Resource Center. “In doing so, we can all learn more about issues and topics related to the field of disability as well as new and exciting opportunities to better serve students with disabilities through advancements in ever-evolving assistive technologies and university-wide contributions aimed at breaking down barriers.”

Georgia Southern University to Welcome Families at Fall Family Weekend

The Georgia Southern University Office of Orientation and Parent Programs will host the University’s annual Fall Family Weekend in downtown Statesboro from Sept. 26 to 28. The main events include an outdoor movie, silent auction and a full day of activities.

Center for Sustainability Goes Green for GreenFest 2014

“We hope that visitors will learn that it’s easier than they might think to make green choices,” said Lissa Leege, Ph.D., director of the Center for Sustainability. “We have the technology to reduce energy and water use and can make the choice to reduce waste and eat sustainably grown food.”

University Named Military Friendly School by G.I. Jobs Magazine

For the fourth year in a row, Georgia Southern University has been named a Military Friendly School® by G.I. Jobs magazine for its efforts to provide educational opportunities to America’s veterans, active-duty troops and their families.
