About Georgia Southern University Photography
The University Photography office is part of the Marketing and Communications department and exists to produce high-quality photographic images for various print and online material, Georgia Southern Magazine, and upper-tier pages on the Georgia Southern Website. The work produced here reflects the spirit, excellence, diversity and quality of life at Georgia Southern University.
Georgia Southern University’s photographer provides photography services to the University community for documentary, news, editorial and event photography. While we make every effort to provide this service to the University community, the Marketing and Communications department reserves the right to determine if a request is the best use of the photographer’s time based on the overall needs of the University.
Most photographs produced by the University Photographer and contractors hired by the Marketing and Communications department are available for marketing purposes and are maintained in an online database.
Mission and Prioritization
Marketing and Communications places top priority on photographing events and activities that will support and enhance the mission of recruitment and retention. In addition, showcasing the important work and successes of the University’s faculty and staff remains a priority.
The Photographer generally does not provide photo coverage of banquets, awards presentations and general departmental events unless the images can be used for marketing, recruitment or media relations purposes. If we are unable to accommodate a shoot request, further assistance may be available. We will work with you to help find a solution to your coverage needs.
What We Cover
In order to have your request considered by the Marketing and Communications Department, please fill out our online Photo Request Form. The photographer will determine photography needs related to the request.
- University Marketing Materials — These include images that the Marketing Department deems suitable for use to help advance the message of the University. Examples of this may include admissions activities, visually engaging student activities and experiential learning opportunities.
- Media Relations/News Events — We can provide imagery for news releases and media services.
- Portraits — We can provide professional headshots for use on departmental Websites as well as professional publications. Portraits occur in our photo studio located inside Anderson Hall. Light retouching is included with all portraits. Please provide two or three possible dates and times on the request.
After the assignment has been completed, the University Photographer will edit the pictures and present the best images for selection.
