Georgia Southern names W.E. Carter Chair in Business Administration
Georgia Southern University faculty member Constance Campbell, Ph.D., professor of management in the College of Business Administration, has been named the W.E. Carter Chair in Business Administration.
The W.E. Carter Chair in Business Administration was established in June 1999 with a gift of $500,000 from Mildred C. Jenkins in honor of her late father, W.E. Carter, Sr. and late brother, W.E. Carter, Jr. In 2000, the Carter gift was matched by the State of Georgia creating the $1,000,000 Eminent Scholar position. Proceeds from this gift advance the teaching of leadership in business.
As the W.E. Carter Chair in Business Administration, Campbell will utilize funding from the endowment to continue the Carter Lecture Series established in April 2012 to support leadership activities. In addition, she will represent the College at national conferences and organize community events to promote effective leadership in business.
Campbell brings a wealth of experience to the W.E. Carter Chair position. She joined the College of Business Administration faculty in 1992 after earning a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from Florida State University. Her research focuses on leadership, business management and organizational behavior. She served as the Director of the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership where she led the Corporate Leadership Council, a leadership program comprised of 40 high-potential undergraduate business majors and scholarship recipients. Campbell currently teaches the Leadership course in the MBA program and conducts community outreach and training programs on leadership in business.
She has been honored with an Outstanding Professor award in the Georgia WebMBA program, with the Rutherford Award for Excellence in Teaching and Service in the MBA Program, with the W.A. and Emma Lou Crider Award for Excellence in Teaching and with the Martin NeSmith Faculty Award for Distinguished Service.
