Georgia Southern ranked in 25 Best Online Master’s in Sport Management Degree Programs

Georgia Southern University’s Online Master’s of Sport Management degree was recently ranked as one of The 25 Best Online Master’s in Sport Management Degree Programs by national education resource TheBestSchools.org.

“It is an honor to be recognized along with the nation’s top sport management programs including Georgetown University, Texas A&M University and Washington State University,” said Program Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Sport Management Christina Gipson, Ph.D.

According to Best Schools, the ranking was based on the quality of the program, range of courses the program provides, as well as the program’s awards, rankings and reputation.

The 36-credit, online master’s in sport management degree program, housed in the Waters College of Health Professions, was designed to provide academic preparation and practical experience and techniques necessary to be successful in the sport business and leisure field. Students are able to complete the program in 24 months, or as their schedule permits.

According to Forbes, the sports market in North America continues to boom with an estimated value of $73.5 billion by 2019. Sport management positions in advertising, media, public relations and talent representation, among others, are on the rise in support of the growing industry.

“Understanding our student base allows us to provide students with an academic experience that fits their needs,” said Gipson. “This ranking, along with others, recognizes our faculty’s dedication and commitment to providing our students with a student-focused program that contributes to a valuable and meaningful education. Our faculty continually set higher goals for the program and this honor pushes us to achieve more.”
