Georgia Southern to host outstanding high school students during annual Southern Scholars Showcase

Georgia Southern University will host more than 200 of the brightest high school seniors from around the state, the nation and the world during the 14th annual Southern Scholars Showcase set for Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.

This invitation-only event allows students to interview for valuable and prestigious academic scholarships. This event is open to students who are interested in attending any of Georgia Southern University’s three campuses.

Students who are invited to this event are among the very best in their respective schools, and they must have outstanding test scores and high school grade point averages. The average test scores for the students attending this year are a 1340 SAT total, and a 29 ACT composite. In addition to interviewing for scholarships, students and their parents will attend informative sessions about Georgia Southern University on topics such as engineering, study abroad and the University Honors Program.

Southern Scholars Showcase is just the first chance for prospective students to earn merit-based, academic scholarships. Scholars’ Day will bring an additional 250 students to both the Armstrong and Statesboro campuses in the spring. To be considered for an invitation to Scholars’ Day, students must earn at least a 1200 on the SAT, or a 25 ACT composite and demonstrate high academic ability within the classroom.
