Georgia Southern University Police Department’s K9, “Bear” has received a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. The vest was sponsored by Optima Energy, Inc. and embroidered with the sentiment “This gift of protection provided by Optima Energy.”

Georgia Southern’s START NOW events in January provide expedited admission decisions

Prospective and former undergraduate students who want to attend Georgia Southern University for the spring semester have a unique opportunity to start now through events designed to fast-track the admission process.

START NOW events provide unprecedented access to the University through same-day admission decisions, access to Financial Aid counselors while waiting for an admission decision, and academic advising if admitted. Some students may need to take a college placement exam prior to receiving a decision and can do so on-site that day.


Artist brings unique collection to Georgia Southern Statesboro Campus

Multimedia artist Lily Kuonen’s work has never been described as conventional. Her playntings, a combination of a play and a painting, are an end-result of her varied and playful approaches to contradiction, opposition, integration and connection. Some of Kuonen’s playntings will be on view at the Center for Art and Theatre’s Contemporary Gallery on the Georgia Southern University Statesboro Campus starting Jan. 14.
