Health Services recognized for offering excellent health care to students on Statesboro Campus
Following a comprehensive assessment and on-site visit, Georgia Southern University’s Health Services on the Statesboro Campus has again been recognized for offering excellent health care to students.
Health Services was recently re-accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and recognized for its Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH), certifications that it has held since 2013. The re-accreditation process involves a practice visit and evaluation every three years to maintain status.
Georgia Southern is one of only three college health care centers in the state to hold AAAHC accreditation and the only of those to be certified as a PCMH. The PCMH approach to care embraces comprehensive proactive, preventative and chronic care management and treatment.
“Our team is committed to providing an outstanding level of care to our students every day, and we are fortunate to be recognized once again for achieving such a high standard of health care,” said Director of Health Services Diane Norris.
The state-of-the-art facility on the Statesboro Campus, which opened in 2016, allows for enhanced patient care and additional medical services including an in-house pharmacy, vision care center and physical therapy clinic.
Surveyors from the AAAHC noted that, “Georgia Southern Health Services is committed to providing quality health care and education to Georgia Southern students. They have robust processes in place to monitor quality of care and to identify opportunities for improvement.”
