Georgia Southern Armstrong Campus to host US Congress Democratic Primary Candidate Forum on April 20

The U.S. Congress Democratic Primary Candidate Forum, featuring candidates for Georgia’s 1st District, will take place on Georgia Southern University’s Armstrong Campus on Wednesday, April 20.

“Georgia Southern University takes its responsibilities to civic engagement very seriously,” said Associate Professor of Sociology Ned Rinalducci, Ph.D. “These forums are an opportunity for us to help educate our community on issues that affect us all and to help voters make informed decisions at the polls. The first district in Georgia has experienced shifting demographics in recent years, making this race more competitive and making this primary more prominent. The first district covers all or parts of 17 southeast and coastal Georgia counties, including Savannah, the largest city in the district.”

WSAV news anchors Tina Tyus-Shaw and Ben Senger will moderate the forum at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium. A committee that includes both faculty and students from the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences have composed the questions along with submissions from the public. The public can submit questions to Rinalducci at erinalducci@georgiasouthern.edu.

The event is sponsored by Georgia Southern’s College of Behavioral and Social Sciences, the Department of Sociology and Anthropology and the Department of Political Sciences and International Studies.
