Spring Into Action

Given the injuries being nursed by the 20 projected starters from last year’s Georgia Southern FCS playoff squad, the annual Blue-White Spring Game, could have been called the Black and Blue Game. That didn’t stop a record 4,233 enthusiastic fans from coming out to see the White team hold on for a 21-20 victory over the Blue. The starters who did take the field were joined by a healthy mix of reserves who got plenty of repetitions in preparation for the 2011 campaign.

“They were running into each other pretty well,” said head coach Jeff Monken. “There were some good hits, good blocks and hard tackles. I think the guys really enjoyed the chance to get out there and play in front of a crowd.” Former Eagles Jayson Foster and Mark Williams served as the honorary captains for the White Team while Steve Bussoletti was the honorary captain for the Blue team.
