Award-winning journalist Soledad O’Brien addressed a large crowd at Hanner Fieldhouse during Georgia Southern University’s 2013 MLK celebration. O’Brien focused on leadership as she urged students to continue the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. by advocating for equality.

 

 


St. Patrick’s Day Parade 2013

The Eagle Nation became Irish for the day during the 189th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Savannah, Ga. University President Brooks Keel and first lady Tammie Schalue were cheered on by alumni, students and True Blue supporters lining the parade route. This year’s float featured Eagles Head Football Coach Jeff Monken, mascots Freedom and Gus and Miss Georgia Southern Reedi Hawkins.

 


New Bus Unveiled at Georgia Southern

A new fleet of blue and white buses are shuttling Georgia Southern students around campus. The state-of-the art and environmentally friendly buses are wheelchair accessible, and run on biodiesel fuel, which burns about 20 percent cleaner than the compressed natural gas used to power the University’s original fleet.
