Jack Pate (’09) graduated from Georgia Southern five years ago and is now supporting the University as an annual donor. The alumnus says he decided to become a regular contributor because he developed a strong connection to the College of Engineering and Information Technology as an undergraduate.

“Georgia Southern definitely helped prepare me for the real world. The College has great programs and my course of study covered all the bases,” he says. “The education I received helped me get a great engineering job right out of college.”

The mechanical engineering and technology major is currently working for Strategic Enterprise Solutions Corp., in Warner Robins, Georgia, a design and consulting firm. He hopes others will follow his lead and give back by becoming annual donors. After all, he says, “I feel Georgia Southern is headed in a great direction, and the better the school becomes in the future, the more appealing it will be to employers.”

Pate says he chose Georgia Southern because of its engineering programs. “I originally went there for the GTREP (the two-year Georgia Tech Regional Engineering Program) but after two years wanted to stay at the beautiful campus for the remainder of my engineering degree. I still enjoy going to occasional football games and get nostalgic when I think of the students and clubs I participated in. I will certainly have some amazing stories to share when I grow old and have some grandchildren.”
