The Southern Conference (SoCon) honored 16 Georgia Southern student-athletes this past spring semester on its Academic All-Conference Team.

The SoCon Tournament Champion Baseball team led the way for Georgia Southern as four student-athletes earned the honor, while three student-athletes from women’s outdoor track & field, softball and women’s tennis also received the accolade. Additionally, five student-athletes earned a 4.0 grade point average. They included Ashleigh Rasheed (women’s track & field), Shelby Morrill (softball), Brooke Red (softball), Paola Garrido (women’s tennis) and Mary Phillips Smith (women’s tennis).

To be eligible for the SoCon Academic All-Conference Team, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA entering the spring season and are required to participate in at least one-half of their teams’ competitions. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least 24 credit hours over the previous two semesters.
