The Boro Goes Blue

Georgia Southern University is working with the city of Statesboro and the South Main Street Revitalization Committee — a grass roots organization made up of community leaders, volunteers and organizations — to create the Statesboro Blue Mile. The goal is to restore the one-mile stretch of South Main Street — from the main entrance of the University to the Courthouse in Downtown Statesboro — to its former glory in a manner that adds economic value to the city’s tax base, beautifies residential and commercial areas, attracts and retains creative students and young professionals, and enhances the quality of life.

In April, Statesboro was named a grand prize winner (3rd place) in the America’s Best Communities competition, receiving $1 million for the revitalization of the Blue Mile.
