Rest in Peace Glory: Bald Eagle Passes Away

Glory, a bald eagle who served as Georgia Southern’s ambassador, died of natural causes in November. The almost 37-year-old Eagle spent most of her life at the Center for Wildlife Education and Lamar Q Ball, Jr. Raptor Center on the Statesboro Campus. The revered matriarch presided over numerous University events. She first appeared at football games in the 1990s, including three national championships. Glory relinquished her mascot responsibilities to our current bald eagle, Freedom, and welcomed visitors to the wildlife center while sitting high in her nest designed by noted conservationist Jim Fowler.
